LFP stands for the promotion in Pakistan of liberal values and principles, and for freedom, responsibility, tolerance, social justice, equality of opportunity, rule of law, pluralism, supremacy of democratic norms, devolution of power and decision making, and decentralization.

The organization started with an ambitious object to promote in Pakistan liberalism as set out in the International Liberal Manifesto (April 1947), and values such as freedom, tolerance, social justice, equality of opportunity, rule of law, pluralism, and supremacy of democratic norms. LFP was introduced to foster ideas of a kind whose presence in the life of the country had been previously small.

In order to achieve the above objectives, LFP may try to:

Combat corruption.

Combat terrorism.

Advance human rights.

Foster the establishment of an independent judiciary.

Assist in the setting up of permanent mechanisms for democratic accountability and to cultivate a civil society.

Revitalize public dialogue with civil society, politicians and the government.

Increase the active participation of citizens in decision making.

Bring about electoral reform.

Institute a lean and accountable government.

Promote meaningful decentralization and devolution of power.

Support maximum autonomy to regions and local communities.

Advance a free market economy.

Achieve universal education.

Bring about judicious land reforms.

Promote sustainable development by prudent use and management of natural resources.

Promote affirmative action for the disadvantaged sections of the population.

Advocate liberal perspectives on vital issues.

Mobilize public opinion in favor of liberalism.

Promote media that is free from undue control.
